Under the general direction of the Chief, manages and commands the Department’s Fire and EMS Training Program, and handles all Training personnel problems for the Department.

Essential Functions of the Job: Plans, organizes, and directs the overall Training Department activities. Develops annual budgets, operating plans and Training plans for the entire Department, and develops and maintains a longer term (five year) plans for improvement of Department Training and replacement of Training equipment and supplies. Responds to fire alarms and/or emergencies, as availability will allow. Commands Training activities and assigned Training personnel and lower ranking Training officers and personnel. Assists the Fire Chief and Assistant Chief – EMS in fulfilling the responsibility of ensuring that all Department personnel are adequately trained and certified in accordance with applicable Department policies and existing laws and regulations governing fire and EMS Training. Assumes total responsibility for Training Department activities, performing Chief’s duties and exercising Chief’s authority during the absence of the Chief. Shall visit each fire station periodically to interact with Officers and members. Also, while visiting, check general condition of Training materials, supplies and records. Shall meet or communicate with the Chief, and Assistant Chief-EMS at least monthly to discuss, receive, or relay pertinent information relating to operations, policies, practices, and communications. Shall enforce all department rules and regulations, SOG’s. Shall serve as the Chairman of the Training Committee
